Abla's Pastries: Granville (11 May 2012)

Having been around since 1984, Abla's Pastries has established themselves firmly as one of the best lebanese sweets shop around Sydney. As soon as you enter the store, you can smell the sweet rosewater they use in their baklavas, which probably made me want to buy them even more :) Although Granville can be quite a trek for some, it is definitely worth visiting at least once - even if it is to just grab a large takeaway platter (like me!)

Take away platter - they charge by weight (I think it was around $20/kilo) and they'll wrap it up beautifully in a plate for you to take home. There was probably at least 15 types of pastries, so would definitely need to go back to try them all! My favourite one so far is still the lady's finger (the short, skinny filo pastry one) since it's a little lighter and oh-so-crunchy on the outside while still being drenched with rose water syrup.
