Kura Kura Japanese Casual Dining: Chinatown (19 May 2012)

Compared to the busier Kura downstairs which seems to be always quite full, especially with the nearby uni students coming in for a good but cheap japanese meal, Kura Kura Casual Dining offers a more relaxed restaurant setting with more menu options. Service is very prompt and efficient, with the dishes being served within 5-10 minutes of us ordering.

Soft shell crab sushi ($7.50)
The soft shell crab sushi was really tasty and still crispy inside, encased by a creamy mayo sauce, confirming that the sushi was freshly made.

Seafood and egg don $11.90
A very generous serving size, with plenty of hot steaming rice tucked under the thick layer of seafood and sweet egg toppings.

Scampi set ($9.80)
I looooove scampi, and the scampi set provided here is of exceptional value! It comes with around 4 pieces of scampi sushi, the scampi head, and also a large bowl of scampi miso soup with another scampi head.

It came to around $15 each, which was good value for the fresh and authentic seafood dishes, and efficient service. Would definitely come back again to try more of the meat dishes that we saw, especially the ox tongue curry.
