Carre Noir: Chatswood (02 August 2012)

Although we had just seen each other the previous night for dinner at Cara & Co, I met up K again for lunch yesterday at the centrally located Carre Noir at Chatswood Concourse. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff are friendly. We were given the choice to either sit inside or outside facing the grassy area of the Concourse, and while the weather was fantastic we opted for inside since it was quieter. The menu has a good selection of desserts and light meals, with some options for pastas, risottos, burgers and mains.

Bright modern exterior

Ice Coffee $7
Iced coffee with a Doppio shot - K ordered this and it looked deliciously creamy and rich, and reminds me of the old-school style way of serving iced coffee with the whipped cream.

Steak Sandwich $17
For lunch we decided to split the steak sandwich/burger so we can have room for fro-yo afterwards. The meal consisted of120g wagyu steak char-grilled and topped with tomato, lettuce, pickled onion, beetroot and BBQ sauce, served with a side of crunchy fat chips and tomato sauce. I found the steak quite dry and overcooked, however the condiments were fresh and made the burger still tasty.

Overall Carre Noir provided a lovely place to catch up with K in a central location at Chatswood, although I will probably stick to coffee and desserts in the future.
