New Shanghai and Yogurberry: Chatswood (03 July 2012)

It's been almost 2 months since our last pan fried pork buns fix at New Shanghai so we were back again to feast on the buns after walking around the Friday night markets at Chatswood. To begin with, we ordered a serving of the braised dry bean curd cold dish. I remember my grandmother making this dish when I was younger, and it was refreshing to be able to find this dish on the menu! Whilst it was a lot sweeter then what I remember, it was still nonetheless delicious and a great portion as a starter.

Steamed mini pork buns at New Shanghai has an amazingly thin skin which encases a hot pouch of soup surrounding the small ball of meat. Delicious.

Pan Fried Pork Buns
Now to our favourite - the pan fried pork buns. We ordered two plates between the two of us (one to take away...) and as always, the pork buns at New Shanghai are filled with a hot pouch of pork-flavoured soup encased in a doughy bun that is fried to a golden crispiness.

As we were walking out, we noticed that Yogurberry had a special on (20% off if you like them on facebook and show then at checkout) so we decided to try it out. Similar to Praus at Eastwood, it has a self-service system, but has more flavours and toppings options in comparison to Praus. I was really excited to find the taro flavour on offer, though I didn't find the consistency of the yogurt as creamy or rich as Noggi or Moochi
